(Keep on going down the path your on) When the going gets tough, It’s the tough that get going (Keep on going down the path your on) Don’t let anybody tell you that You don’t know what you’re doing (Keep on going down the path your on) As you progress through your years So much knowledge you can earn (Keep on going down the path your on) So always keep an open mind, and Never lose your drive to learn… (Keep on going down the path your on) Through the sorrow and the joy Embrace all of your emotions (Keep on going down the path your on) Don’t become discourage by The preconceived notions (Keep on going down the path your on) Of the expectations set by A jury of your peers (Keep on going down the path your on) For only you can truly know Your deepest desires and fears… (Keep on going down the path your on) Always stay true to your dreams And the passions that drive you (Keep on going down the path your on) Let your intuition be your guide If ever you are confused (Keep on going down the path your on) Aim your focus on your goals And maintain your motivation (Keep on going down the path your on) And eventually you will reach that destination… (Keep on going down the path your on) As we make our way through life We must all learn who we are (Keep on going down the path your on) So if you remain teachable You will go far (Keep on going down the path your on) All the trial and tribulations They will later become lessons (Keep on going down the path your on) To remind you that your curses Can be transformed into blessings… (Keep on going down the path your on) Though you may encounter those Who attempt to obscure it (Keep on going down the path your on) Know that you don’t have to put up with Their critiques or their bullshit (Keep on going down the path your on) Only you can be the judge of What is false and what is truth (Keep on going down the path your on) So always follow your heart, and The path that lies before you…

There is an ever-lurking feeling in the back of my mind Telling me that happiness is all I need, and I should just be grateful for the things that I have Focus on the positivity that is Illuminating all around me Should I release these demons That I’ve been repressing for so long They will Inevitably come up from Their hiding places anyways, and Show their evil faces for the whole world to see So I’ll project them on the people Who are closest to me… Everyone I meet seems so inferior to me I’m sure I’m better than them in every way, and They should open their ears When I say these horrible things That apply primarily to my own personality Yet, pass them off as if they have More of an effect on you than they have on me Maybe then you’ll see the error of your ways Fall down on your knees and praise me for My intellect, my wisdom and knowledge That I received without the use of college, or Some fancy liberal arts degree… I chose to follow the American dream Just like my father before me, and Woke up equally as lost and confused, and full of misery, so Now I blame society for totally misguiding me When really I was the one Who chose to follow them so blindly Down a path I had not set for myself, and Believed they had my best intentions in mind As they held that golden carrot slightly out of reach But not enough to discourage me from Persistently pursuing it… As my sense of creativity falls to the wayside And my originality, it slowly fades I accept my role as just another cog In the corporate machine, and Become everything that I once claimed to hate…

Some people think that They’ve got it all figured out; Some believe that Their shit don’t stink… Don’t let any body ever tell you How you should be living your own life As if they know exactly What its like to be you When they don’t even know Your favorite food or the size of your shoes Nor just how many miles and obstacles They’ve conquered anchored solely to Some shitty little laces on the side of your feet It’s amazing what you can achieve Without external forces constantly criticizing How you choose to approach them on a daily basis Quickly citing different phases of their own lives Like its some infallible guide to success When all it really does is cause more stress upon The people simply trying their best To figure out their situational problems, and How best to solve them without falling victim to The anxieties and insecurities that occur in us all Any time that we’re called into action In fact, it’s perfectly natural to feel these emotions, yes We shouldn’t close them off or hide from them, no! Repression is a horrible defense mechanism That will inevitably come back to haunt you again Instead you should embrace your full range of emotions And learn from your past experiences, failures and flaws For they will only make you stronger in your mind and your heart If you can always keep the lasting impression of Their lessons in our thoughts…

The true measure of a man is not based upon How masculine or physically strong that they are Nor the amount of monetary weight they may accumulate Nor how many people they leave Dead and buried along the way It’s not the violence, the rage or their competitive nature Nor how often they don’t cry, or if they use a straight razor It’s not even the need for alpha supremacy Nor how anatomically endowed they may be… Misogyny is not a trait that should be admired Nor is mercilessness, and yet, we never seem to tire of The sight of gladiators in a fight to the death; Cause real men “fuck shit up” Until their final breath… Toxic masculinity exists in our society Because of social pressures placed upon men To be competitive and violent To strive for independence and to dominate The ones we hate or those we view as weaker than ourselves O! But the selfishness, aggression and emotional repression All comes back to haunt you as regret and depression, and It leaves you in a haze of resentment and strife As you try to justify just why You chose to live such a shitty life… The true measure of a man is more based upon The way he chooses to treat those he holds in his heart The positive effects that he has on others, and The empathy he shows to his sisters and his brothers It’s his honesty, his character and selflessness; or The way he always strives to give one hundred and ten percent Not with malicious intent, but out of respect to his commitment To complete whatever task is set before him To the best of his abilities… One who is well loved by family and Seen as an integral contribution to community One who is worthy of praise, yet does not seek it, and One who see the deeper value in The journey, rather than the destination One who future generations can view with admiration Gaining inspiration from his actions and presence Like a king among peasants; constantly striving to Improve every one else’s existence…

It only takes a little bit of effort To turn a breakdown Into a breakthrough... I believe I‘m beginning to catch a glimpse of The bigger picture hiding in plain view, but Every time I try to open my eyes wider And achieve a new perspective All the colors start to blend again Rendering me a little nervous In the back of my mind I was sure that I could Hold my focus on it this time And find a deeper meaning That could help me see more clearly Once it made itself a little more apparent to me… O! But apparently I’m falling out of touch with reality All my friends and family are worried that This catastrophe has done some irreversible damage To my heart and frame of mind, but Honestly I’m feeling better than I have in a long time… Pertaining to the concept of happiness Its a relative emotion Depending on the context, and Expectation of the individual Seeking to attain the satisfaction, and Fulfillment that is only received by Releasing your constant need for positivity, and Accepting that only through our struggles Do we gain a true appreciation for Just how good or bad things could really be… O! Maybe then we’d finally see the beauty in our flaws After all, we’re basically ignorant primates grasping at straws Attempting to decipher deeper meaning in our daily routines Misinterpreting the scale of infinity As though our lives have more meaning than To simply exist and appreciate the fact that We can live and breathe…

about

This album was written and recorded over the span of 2021 to 2022, in the midst of societal upheaval and presumed global chaos... This caused a lot of people to question the status quo and whether or not this world and the people on it were even worth saving... Some lashed out at those around them; others began to look inward...

Writing this album was a way for me to really ask myself what I truly believe in and analyze the lens through which I view the world... What philosophies I admire, what societal norms I despise, what kind of people I seek to surround myself with, and what kind of person I truly want to be...

Some of these songs are autobiographical, some are pulled from stories or lectures of various philosophers, some are about fevered dreams I experienced under intense emotional pressure, some are written from the perspective of others in an attempt to better understand their point of view; but ultimately all are rooted in the same underlying concept of developing self reliance, personal identity, strengthening your core community; and above all, forging your own path and staying true to yourself...
